Submitted by Bob on Thursday, December 02, 2010 at 17:29 So what was the point of having a street light on the corner of Bird and N. bergen. It was petitioned by the guy whose driveway is lit by it. He got a petition signed by people who mostly didn't even live on these streets or near the intersection. About 8 people live on one street and it's a T intersection. However, it nicely illuminates the driveway of the petitioner. We now all pay for a street light that was never needed for the 30 years I have lived here. Or did the Town and its people buy this guy a driveway light and pay for the electric. Just wondering how these things happen? Submitted by Sean Nickerson on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 23:01 Hi, I just wanted to say that I think Byron is FTW Submitted by Debra Buck-Leaton on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 09:09 If you call the Town Clerk's Office I can put you on the list to have it mailed or emailed to you each time. Submitted by Ellen on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 10:35 It would be nice to have the newsletter either emailed/ or be notified when the new one is uploaded on to the web site. Thanks Submitted by Rob Miller on Saturday, May 09, 2009 at 00:52 Cool site. Submitted by geo on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 19:11 the town transfer station is just about breaking even on the costs of disposal for garbage and recyclables and income from cardboard and tincans/iron. BUT there are a few people that sneak in and try not to pay for their trash disposal and costs the rest of the payers more. PLEASE all pay their share or costs per bag may increase and security cameras will be installed !! gates are open during the week for those that can't get here on saturdays so please pay your share or we all will pay more and we will still catch the sneaks. O.K. we are closing earlier to cut some costs and a survey showed that very few coming in for the last hour, some always will be last no matter what time it closes --THANK YOU----george
Submitted by Lucille on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 17:09 to geo: Thanks. Maybe you should be the town historian. Submitted by geo on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 16:26 lidke hill is located north of north bergen road on bird road. the lidke family lived there on the family homestead for generations so that is where the name originates . some of the town roads are named after families that onced lived on them. there are many gravestones in the town cemeteries that bear the old family names to testify to that. Submitted by George on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 21:15 Caroline F.: I love that "duckiesram rd." name. Is it any wonder the old sign kept getting stolen? LOL Submitted by Joe on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 21:10 O.K., and just where is Lidke Hill..in plain English? And, regarding the questions of "why isn't anybody out and about in Byron", what is there to do out and about? Also, why hasn't anybody commented since Sept. 2008 on this site? Submitted by Jim on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 08:43 Interesting. Lidke Hill is a Summit in the state of New York (county of Genesee), located at latitude - longitude coordinates (also known as lat-long or GPS coordinates) of N 43.12312 and W -78.04362. Lidke Hill is shown in the center of the topographic (topo) map, which is sourced from the United States Geographical Survey map USGS Byron quad. The nearest major town is Byron, NY. http://newyork.hometownlocator.com/maps /feature-map,ftc,1,fid,955287,n,Lidke%20Hill.cfm Submitted by David on Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 20:42 Where exactly is Lidke Hill? Submitted by John on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 19:30 I really like seeing the newsletter back on line - now how about some of the meeting minutes and other stuff so we don't have to tromp down to the town office ??????? Submitted by Barb on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 13:27 In reply to the historian's column in the Summer Town Newsletter regarding the Byron Telephone Company: There is a story about it in the 1970 Sesquicentennial Book. According to that story, the Byron Telephone Company was in business from 1903 until 1933. Apparently at that time it was bought out by New York Telephone. Submitted by joe on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 16:29 Neat page - now where are all those people who always have something to say about everthing?
